What we did
Why was the Hebron Market homepage 48 MB, and what fixed it?
One video. The old Hebron Market homepage carried a 71 MB header video set to autoplay, measured August 31, 2026, so every visit started downloading it straight away. Honey Bridge replaced it on October 2, 2026 with a 6.6 MB cut for computers, a 2.5 MB cut for phones and a still image that shows first. Nothing about the shop needed it to be that size. Everything else on this list is smaller, and it is the part most rebuilds skip.
In order
2026-08-31. Measured the site before touching it, and kept the raw reports, so the before could not be chosen after the fact.
2026-10-02. Replaced the header video. The old file was 71 MB with an audio track on a muted player. The new one is a 6.6 MB cut for computers, a 2.5 MB cut for phones, and a 62 KB still image that shows first. The video starts only after the page has loaded.
2026-10-02. Moved the product data to the server, so a slow connection can no longer turn a page into an error screen.
2026-10-05. Served the two fonts from the site itself instead of Google Fonts, and made the map load only when someone taps it.
2026-10-05. Showed a still frame first: a 10 KB image on phones and a 31 KB one on computers, fetched before anything else, with the video fading in over it once it plays.
2026-10-05. Shipped the site’s code as one file instead of about twenty, took a database library out of what visitors download, and stopped sections below the first screen from loading their photos until someone scrolls near them.
What this page does not prove
What does the Hebron Market speed test not prove? Four things.
This is speed, not sales. We are not claiming more visitors or more orders from it. Online ordering at Hebron Market is paused while this is written, so there is no order data to report.
The biggest item on a phone screen arrives at 2.5 seconds, right on the line Google calls good, not comfortably under it. On the live address, where Cloudflare adds its own analytics script, the phone score ran 93 to 97 the same night.
These are lab tests, not measurements from real visitors. Single runs swing: the new site’s phone score ran 96, 97 and 97 across the three runs, the old site’s 75, 75 and 83. That is why we report the middle value.
The old site was measured from its saved deployment, not from the live address, because the live address now serves the new site. Both were measured on the same kind of address so the comparison holds.
